Sacrament of Baptism
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." CCC 1213
Infant Baptisms are celebrated for newborns and children up to 6 years old.
English Baptisms are usually celebrated the fourth Saturday of the month at 9:00 am.
Spanish Baptisms are usually celebrated the first Saturday of the month at 9:00 am.
*Please Note: We do not celebrate Baptisms during Lent.
2024 Baptism Preparation Class Schedule:
- Saturday, January 20, April 20,May 25, June 22, August 24, September 28, October 26
- No Class - February, March, July, November and December
All classes are held in person
Parents and Godparents must attend a baptism preparation class.
Baptism Preparation Classes are held in the Salta Center Gym (English) and in Room 333 (Spanish) from 7:45am to 10:00am. Please call the parish office to register 760-346-6502.
Please Note: There are no preparation classes February, March, July, November and December.
For non-registered families who wish to only take the class and are not baptizing at Sacred Heart, a suggested donation for the class is $10.00 per person.
- Parents and Godparents must complete a baptism preparation class
- Parents must complete a baptism application
- Child's birth certificate must accompany the completed application
- Non-parishioner parents must bring a letter of permission from their home parish
- Godparents must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation
- Payment of $50.00 fee per child
All requirements must be completed in order to receive a date for your child's Baptism.
