East Valley Outreach Program

Sacred Heart's East Valley Outreach program works to distribute food to Coachella Valley families in need by connecting volunteers and parishioners with its four subsidiary programs: the Galilee Center, Catholic Charities, Martha's Village and Kitchen, and Oasis Elementary School. The food is purchased through the FIND organization.

Our 3 Outreach Programs:

Catholic Charities

The Mobile Home Park Food Distribution Program offers direct food assistance to residents of 4 rural, mobile-home park communities. These areas have limited access to food pantries, and the supply of emergency food is often low. The distribution is twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, between 9a.m. and 11a.m.

Volunteers are requested to meet at the Catholic Charities warehouse in Indio at 8:00 a.m. (address: 45435 Van Buren #7 Indio, CA 92201). Packing is done by volunteers in Mecca, and delivery is done by volunteers starting at 8:30 a.m. leaving from the warehouse. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Sherry Grana at 760-568-5101.

Martha's Village and Kitchen

Martha's Village and Kitchen uses the East Valley Outreach funding to purchase food at FIND food bank for our Emergency Services food pantry. We provide a 3-day supply of food for our low income neighbors in need. We offer this service Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A client is allowed to come and receive emergency food once every 2 months. If you are interested in volunteering at Martha's, please contact Isabel at 760-347-4741 ext 301. or visit their website here .

Oasis Elementary School

Oasis School distribution has been an agency of FIND for almost 10 years and has always served the community that surrounds the Oasis School site. They use the school's parent telephone system to announce their distributions, which take place on the 2nd and last Friday of each month. The first distribution is for shared maintenance products and the second distribution is USDA emergency food. Information on getting involved is forthcoming.
