Applicants need their valid ID, Drivers license is best, passport or out of state ID is accepted. In extraordinary situations, original birth certificate together with original social security card will be accepted.

Please note: Temporary (paper) ID’s from the DMV are not accepted.

This policy is in accordance with California Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506). The law requires that a “regular volunteer of a youth service organization shall undergo a background check pursuant to Section 11105.3.” What the new law refers to in Section 11105.3 is that all regular volunteers with minors are now required to undergo a background check provided by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) through fingerprinting using the Live Scan process (aka biometrics).

This new law, AB 506, is now diocesan policy, which means that all adults volunteering with minors in the Diocese of San Bernardino must undergo a background check through the California Department of Justice fingerprint process, using the Live Scan process.

Please note: Live Scan from outside the Diocese of San Bernardino are not transferable.

Sacred Heart Church Policy requires the following volunteers to be  Live Scanned:  All Ministry Coordinators and Officers, Catechists including RCIA, Youth Ministry, Companions Visitation Ministry, Hospital Ministry, Ministry to the Sick, Hospitality, Eucharistic Ministers/ Lectors, Ushers, Greeters and Knights of Columbus that regularly volunteer at either church or school.
